This week’s Craw-Kan “Your Community Technology Partner” Team of the Week from Southeast Kansas is the Frontenac Raider boys basketball team led by head coach Ryan Varsolona.
The Raiders picked up three key wins last week in a blow out of rival Baxter (61-27) on Tuesday, a comeback 56-53 win over rival Girard and a 59-57 win over Louisburg on the road Saturday. Girard led 47-36 going into the fourth quarter before the Raiders made their comeback. Senior Hayden Pile is looking like an all-state candidate in 3A this season as he averaged nearly 19 points per game last week in the three big wins to go along with seven rebounds per game. Senior Cale Bridwell averaged nine points per game over the week while senior Jake Beckmann added seven per game. Freshman Mario Menghini and senior Gunner Hensley each chipped in six per game. Sophomores Landon Dean and Jordan Fudge also pulled down over five rebounds per game over the week. Fudge, who stands over 6-foot-7, is also averaging over two blocks per game for the Raiders. The Raiders are a very deep team and have a lot of youth to go along with senior experience.
Frontenac is back in action this Thursday at their own tournament in Frontenac as the Kansas Army National Guard Tourney opens up this week.
