Colony-Crest is the lone undefeated team in Kansas high school baseball.
Crest is 20-0 and headlines the 2-1A Central Heights regional. Southern Lyon County is second at 16-2. Six of the eight teams are above .500. Crest faces one-win Marais des Cygnes Valley in the regional Monday. Only 77 of the team’s 672 at-bats come from seniors.
Notably, Crest defeated Cherokee-Southeast with a 10-0 and 9-8 victories April 11. On May 10, Crest was tested in 2-0 and 7-3 victories versus Chase County. Cherokee-Southeast finished the regular season 13-3 and paces the Colgan regional.
Last season, Crest, still in the early stages of its baseball program, went 22-0 before a 4-2 loss to Spearville in the state quarterfinals. Crest returned the bulk of its key players from 2021. Junior Stetson Setter leads with a .545 average. Junior Jack White is batting .500, and junior Holden Barker is at .449.
Setter has delivered six homers, while Barker has three. Plus, White has nine doubles. Setter has six doubles and three triples. He paces the Lancers with 39 runs and 40 RBI. Setter has the single season school home run record. Crest won the Three Rivers League.
Sophomore Rogan Weir has a .411 average and a team-best 11 doubles. Junior Trevor Church, junior Avery Blaufuss and sophomore Ryan Golden are all between .373 and .383. Bryson Goodell and Tucker Yocham are the seniors.
Church is 6-0 with a 0.41 earned-run average with five shutouts and a pair of no-hitters. Setter is 4-0 with a 1.17 ERA with two shutouts. Blaufuss stands 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA. White is 3-0 with a 0.74 ERA. Yocham is 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA.
